Where can we find your other photography work?
By clicking the 'other photography work' tab or going to www.caitlinmayphotography.com

Booking your date
I require a 20% deposit to secure your wedding booking. This amount is not refundable in the event of cancellation. Your wedding date will not be 100% secured until deposit is paid and forms are signed. It's all digital and easy to do!

When do I pay the rest of the amount?
The remaining amount is required a week before your big day. However, please feel free to send partial payments as your date draws closer if preferable to you.

Are you qualified?
I have a degree in Arts and a degree in Visual Arts (photo media) from Monash University. In the end, however, the only important thing is that you like my work! I have been photographing since I was 16 and started my own business in 2010. This is my career, and my passion!

What equipment do you own?
I own the following: Canon R5, Canon 5D Mark IV, Canon 85mm 1.2, Canon 50mm 1.4, Canon 35mm 1.4, Canon 100mm 2.8 Macro, Canon R 70-200mm 2.8, Speed lights, Mavic Pro 2 Drone, reflector, lighting equipment with soft boxes and other additional accessories.
I have a 27’’ iMac, and an additional 27’’ screen and the newest Photoshop and Lightroom software.

How much extra for drone usage?
It's free! We just need to allow time for it. It is also weather and location dependant!

Do you have a backup camera?
I shoot with two cameras so I don't miss a thing when changing lenses. It also means I have a backup on me at all times.

Can we meet you before we book you?
Absolutely! Let's have a coffee and discuss any ideas or questions you might have. If you're too busy or live in a remote area - I am also happy to chat over zoom.

Do you use a second shooter?
Yes I have second shooters you can hire for your day at $150 per hour, with a minimum of three hours. This shooter will be experienced and have a similar style to my own.

Is there a videographer you recommend?
Yes! I have worked with some great people, check them out here.

Do you shoot same-sex weddings?
YES! 100%

My friend/colleague/family member is trying to built a portfolio, can they photograph the wedding too?
It’s nice to have family members and friends take photos, but if they get in my way it can be very frustrating for you, and for me! In the end I want to take the most beautiful pictures I can, and I only have a set amount of time to do it in. The moments in weddings that are the best can happen in a few seconds – and if I miss it, then you miss out on getting the photos! I would suggest if you have a friend that wants to shoot - that you have them only photograph the reception, or when I am not around.

When should we have the wedding meeting?
Whenever your wedding is 90%+ planned. The wedding meeting is important so I know where I need to be and when. What I need to do, what you’re expecting and the general run sheet of the day. Usually this is a month or so before your date.

How many photos will we get?
Generally around 50-100 per hour I am there, however I often will go over. You will receive all of the best images from the day and the number of images is not capped.

How long should we allow for bridal party photos?
Generally, between the end of the ceremony and the start of the reception there is 1.5hrs allowed for group shot, family photos and bridal party and couple photos. Please allow more time if you are having photos away from the venue, or have large families!

An alternative option is to have a first look, where we do the photos before the ceremony. It can still be really beautiful and special when you see each other for the first time, and you can go straight into the party after a few family shots after the ceremony.

How long should we allow for family photos?
Approximately twenty minutes to half an hour should be fine. After the ceremony is the best time to do this, as everyone is there and ready to go. For bigger families, more time may be required! Think about writing a list and having a family member who knows what everyone looks like organising who is in the next photo. Also let everyone who is in the photos know ahead of time.

How long will it take for me to receive the images?
Completely dependant on how long I am there, and what time of year it is! I do everything myself. Allow approximately four to six weeks.

Oh no! It’s raining/hailing– what do we do?
The important thing to remember is that we will get beautiful photographs regardless! Whilst it is always good to have an under cover location planned, we can also do some gorgeous shots in the rain! Perhaps think about buying some umbrellas, or gumboots? I always make do and we will still have fun and create some beautiful shots together!

It is the day of my wedding and I have decided I need a longer session, what do I do?
I try to be as flexible as possible with my time, especially for weddings! Just talk to me on the day and we will work something out.

I don’t know how to pose? I’m going to look awkward!
Posing seems incredibly daunting, I know but I have worked with many beginners– in fact there aren't many couples who have had professional photos taken before their wedding. I like to make the photo shoot time as fun and relaxed as possible - and I think that shows in my work - genuine smiles are the most beautiful! If you are still worried, perhaps book an couple session so you can get comfortable in front of my lens and get some different photos. Wedding couples get a discount on their couple sessions!

Can we give you a shot list for the day?
It may seem like a good idea, but shot lists really can hinder the creativity and flow of the shoot. Let me know if there are particular shots you want me to take, of course – but generally speaking I photograph in a photojournalistic fashion, to capture your day. Family lists are a good idea though, if there are a particular combination of family members you just can't forget!

What happens if you get sick?
I have never canceled a wedding due to sickness, but due to the climate we live in the last thing I would want to do is make anyone else sick. As soon as symptoms appear I would get tested. If they come back negative and I felt well enough to work, I would have a discussion with the couple to determine if they are still happy for me to shoot (with a face-mask and sanitiser). If it is positive or I feel unable to work, I would find a replacement of consistent style and experience. All the while (of course) keeping the couple in the loop, and ensuring they are comfortable with the new photographer. I am fully vaccinated.

Should we provide a meal at reception for you?
During your wedding day, I am on my feet the whole time, running around like a mad thing to make sure I get all the photos. As a result it is a requirement (and hugely appreciated) that I get some sort of food if I am there when everyone else is eating mains. There aren’t many photos to take whilst people are eating, anyway!

Any dietary requirements?
I am a vegetarian

What are edited/retouched images?
All of your images will be retouched, which involves colour toning, contrast, brightness, sharpening and other editing processes.

I have been using Photoshop for longer than I have been a photographer, and I pride myself on creating a beautiful finished product.

If you request extensive editing such as replacing full backgrounds, removing large, complicated objects, if there's something about yourself you want me to change in every photo, or anything that requires far more work than usual, an additional fee may be required.

Can I edit the images myself?
In short, no. The images represent me as a brand, and having anyone else edit them takes away from that. If you have any additional editing requirements let me know and I will help you out.

How do I receive the finished images?
The finished images will be sent to you digitally in two sizes. Smaller files (for online use) and larger files (for printing). I also send them all to your address on a branded USB in a cute box.

What format will I receive the photos in?
High-resolution jpegs (for printing) and medium-resolution jpegs (for online)

Can we get an album?
Absolutely! I work with a lovely album company who create beautiful results. Price list is available here.

What about printing?
I am more than happy to organise printing for you. When you receive your digital gallery there will be a 'shop' tab where you can order prints, canvases, frames etc.. friends and family can also order from there.

If I haven’t answered your questions, please let me know!
I look forward to photographing your big day!
